THE IMPACT IN RECOVERY OF COVD-19 ON TRAVEL IN 2021

Impact in recovery of covid 19 on travel

People’s lives are still being impacted by COVID-19. It is as relentless and unforgiving as the flu and while we have found means to survive it, a huge question remains, has the economy?

One aspect that has been impacted greatly is travel, which had to close its doors in all routes for a time. One could not travel by land, air, or sea. Well, maybe by land if rode a bike, did some old school walking, or had your own vehicle. But, even transport share services like Uber and Lyft shut down for a spell. When travel shuts down, many other aspects start to shut down as well or simply find another way to work. Hence, why so many businesses are still working from home.

Three-hundred billion of the global industry’s eight-hundred billion revenue came from corporate travel alone. This represents about 50 to 70 percent of the profit base. It is predicted by the Global Business Travel Association that corporate travel would not recover until the end of 2024 or even early 2025. Meaning that popular video call apps like Zoom would continue to remain popular for business meetings.

While the travel industry has opened back up again, it will take a lot of time and effort to bring it back to its glory days. It may be better off to leave the glory days in the past and build a better travel industry layer by layer. Because travel, as we knew it before, may never be the same.

While a few destination hot spots are free to travel to, there are many places around the world that have limited travel to and from because COVID-19 is still wreaking havoc. For example, Croatia and Portugal both have limited travel options. Other places allow entry only with special passes, such as France.

If you plan to travel soon, use these tips to travel safely:

  • To keep yourself and others safe, it’s recommended to wear a mask. Many airports still make it a requirement.
  • Find out all the information that you can when it comes to your destination. Different countries have different requirements and safety precautions so don’t create more of a hassle by remaining out of the loop.
  • Get a COVID-19 test 1-3 days before you are planning to leave for your trip
  • Try to steer clear of others, always remain 6 feet apart to ensure your safety and others
  • When you land, buy some hand sanitizer and use it frequently.
  • If you begin to feel ill while on your trip, be sure to see a doctor who can test you for COVID-19
  • Once you have returned home, take another COVID-19 test and quarantine for 7 days
